Pet Backpack OEM: MOQ, Materials and Lead Times
A pet backpack OEM order is quoted from three decisions: how many pieces you place per style and per color, which shell and mesh you specify, and whether the structure already exists. This note is the commercial brief we use for that conversation. It is not a test report, and it does not approve a bag for any airline.
Buyers often ask for “a backpack MOQ” as if one number covered the whole line. It does not. The same shell in three colors is three style-color combinations, and each combination is ordered on its own. Materials change the sample more than they change that rule: a coated Oxford and a mesh door can share one pattern, but a new harness geometry is a new structure and follows the new-structure minimum.
How many pieces, and of what
The standard MOQ is 300 pcs per style per color. A style-color combination is one SKU. Three hundred pieces split across three colors does not meet it; each color has to reach 300 pcs on its own. That is the figure on the OEM pet backpack manufacturer page and on the rest of the catalog.

There is no separate pilot or trial-order tier and no unit-price premium. Orders under 300 pcs can sometimes be accepted and are discussed case by case, for example a high-value or complex custom item. No quantity below 300 pcs is published. New structures and custom designs are possible. Unbranded ready stock is not sold. The MOQ and sample-fee page is the page to read before you treat any other number as a minimum.
Reorder quantity follows the same rule unless the written quotation says otherwise. Each color is ordered on its own. If you need two colors, send two quantities.
Shell, mesh and what the mill supplies
Most pet backpack shells are woven nylon or Oxford, with a coating when the brief asks for water resistance. The coating is what sheds water, not the denier printed on the hanger. Recycled polyester is available from mills. We do not hold GRS certification ourselves. Recycled polyester fabrics come from GRS-certified mills; the GRS scope certificate belongs to the mill, and a transaction certificate covering your goods can be requested from the mill for your order. GRS is not a certification of this factory, and it is not listed with our audits.
Mesh is specified as named panels: a door, the side walls, sometimes a top window. The base, the lower back and the strap anchors stay woven, because those are the parts that carry load. How large each opening is comes from the pattern, not from an airflow number we have not measured. PU and microfibre faces are a hand-feel choice. They are not, on this page, a claim that a bag has passed a waterproofness, abrasion or food-contact test. If you need a report, name the method, the laboratory and the lot, and we arrange it per order. Linings, webbing and zipper tape belong in the same bill of materials as the shell, because a premium shell on a mismatched lining is what buyers notice second.
Hardware is chosen with the shell, not after it. Zipper size, a locking slider where the animal can reach the pull, and plating are specification lines. We do not describe plating or fabric as tested until the report for that order exists.
Sample time, production time and what the fee covers
Samples take 3-7 days for an existing style and 7-10 working days for a new structure, counted from confirmation of the specification, materials, logo files and sample fee. Tooling-dependent projects are scheduled separately. Bulk production is 15-30 days for light customization (logo, colors and packaging on an existing structure) and 20-45 working days for heavy customization (new patterns, new moulds or a structure we have not built) after written sample approval.
Sample fee: USD 80-250 per sample depending on structure; completely new structures are quoted separately. Courier is charged at cost. Metal-logo and zipper-pull moulds: USD 50-150 each, one-time, not refunded. The sample fee is refunded only when the first order of that same style reaches 300 pcs per color. A first order of 200 pcs or fewer does not receive a sample-fee refund. For a first order of 201-299 pcs, sample-fee handling is discussed case by case, and no refund is promised. It cannot be credited to another style, and separate orders cannot be added together. Tooling, plate-making and third-party testing fees are not refunded. Samples are never free. The sample fee includes one revision round; corrections of our own errors against the confirmed specification are resampled at no extra fee.
Those day ranges are the only production commitments on this page. Transit time is a forwarder figure and is not added into the 15-30 or 20-45 working days. If a Chinese New Year shutdown sits inside your window, say so when you enquire; the schedule is confirmed against the live plan, not by adding a flat number of days here.
What to send with the backpack brief
Send the destination market, how the backpack will be carried, target internal dimensions, reference photos or a tech pack, the shell and mesh you want, logo artwork, the color plan with a quantity per color, packaging, and any test you actually need. We reply with what can be made from an existing reference and what is a new structure, because that choice sets whether the work is a new structure. The standard MOQ is 300 pcs per style per color either way.

Do you certify the backpack fabric to GRS?
No. We do not hold GRS. If the order uses recycled polyester from a GRS-certified mill, the scope certificate is the mill's, and a transaction certificate for your goods is requested from that mill. It is not a factory certification of Eland Bag.
