Logo Methods and Packaging for Custom Pet Bags

Branding decisions look cosmetic and behave commercially. Six decoration methods give very different results, tooled processes carry minimum quantities of their own, and packaging has a minimum set by a different supplier that is often higher than the bag's. This guide covers what each method suits, the artwork we need, and which choices move the numbers.

Branding decisions look cosmetic and behave commercially. The logo method changes the tooling bill and can raise the minimum quantity; the packaging has a minimum of its own, set by a different supplier, and it is frequently higher than the bag's. This guide covers what each decoration method is good for, what artwork we need, and which choices move the numbers — so nothing arrives as a surprise after the quotation.

The decoration methods

MethodBest forReads as
EmbroideryCanvas, nylon and Oxford facesCraft, durability; poor for fine detail and gradients
Woven labelInternal labels and external tagsEconomical and discreet; limited texture
Screen print / heat transferLarge flat artwork, solid colorsBold and cost-efficient at volume; each color adds a screen
Digital / UV printFull color, gradients, fine detail, illustrationThe right answer for artwork that a screen would flatten
Metal logo platePremium positioningThe most “retail luxury” option; needs tooling
Rubber or PU patchOutdoor and technical stylingDimensional and tactile; moulded, so it carries a minimum of its own

Choose on effect and positioning first. A metal plate suits a premium carrier; a woven label keeps cost down but reads plainer; a rubber patch fits outdoor branding; and multi-color or gradient artwork — an illustration, a licensed design, an artist's original — belongs in digital or UV printing, where the print method is the decision that protects the design.

Artwork we can work from

Vector files first: AI, PDF, EPS or SVG. A JPG or PNG can be redrawn as vector, and depending on complexity that may carry a small design charge. Send the placement and size you want along with the file; on a sample round, logo position on the bag is as much a decision as the logo itself, and it is far cheaper to move it before the first sample than after.

What actually moves the MOQ and the unit price

This is the part worth reading before you commit to a look:

  • Tooled processes carry their own minimums. Moulded patches and custom metal hardware are made by specialist suppliers with their own order quantities, which can sit above the quantity you planned to order. Ordering a bag at the standard MOQ and then choosing a patch with a higher minimum of its own is the classic late surprise.
  • Plate and mould charges are not standard. They follow artwork complexity, size, color count and material, which is why we cost them once the artwork is fixed rather than quoting a figure up front.
  • Color count matters on screen printing and much less on digital or UV.
  • Custom metal hardware and zipper pulls need tooling, which is a one-time cost per shape and is not deducted from production the way a sample fee is. The first orders and sample fees page sets out what is deducted and what is not.

Packaging: scope, and the minimum nobody expects

We can supply OPP and PE polybags, biodegradable bags, dust bags, shrink wrap, color boxes, plain cartons, magnetic gift boxes, hang tags, barcode and SKU labels, care labels, Amazon FBA labels, and printed carton marks to your specification.

The line to read twice: packaging MOQ, price and sampling time follow the packaging supplier's requirements and are confirmed separately — and the packaging minimum is often higher than the product minimum. A brand ordering a modest first run of bags can find the gift box is the constraint. Raise packaging at quotation stage, not after the bag is approved.

Two requests come up constantly and are both straightforward if raised early: eco-friendly or biodegradable packaging, and an unboxing experience — a gift box with a thank-you card or a travel checklist card. Note that a packaging sample is a sample too: if you want the box sampled alongside the bag, say so, and it will be itemized on the sample invoice rather than assumed.

Selling on Amazon

For FBA we apply FNSKU and ASIN labels and suffocation warnings on the units in the factory and pack to Amazon's carton requirements, then ship to the fulfilment centre you assign. Send the warehouse address, shipment ID and label files. FBA prep is a priced line on the quotation rather than a free extra; the private-label FBA launch guide covers the full sequence.

Matching accessories into a set

Increasingly the brief is a coordinated range rather than one bag: a carrier with a food pouch, a folding bowl and a travel mat; a tote with a lead, collar, bandana and treat pouch in the same material; a main bag with labelled modules for food, water, gear and clean-up. We manufacture the sewn products in those sets — leads, collars, harnesses, car seats and soft accessories. Items such as folding bowls and metal tags are not made in-house and are sourced in, so tell us the whole set early: it changes both the schedule and which minimums apply. The modular travel system guide works through a full multi-piece development.

Which logo method is cheapest?

Usually a woven label or a simple one-color screen print, but the honest comparison is per bag at your quantity including tooling. A metal plate can be a rounding error at volume and a real cost on a small run.

Can I use several logo methods on one bag?

Yes, and premium ranges usually do — a woven internal label, an embroidered face mark and a metal plate, for example. Each method is costed separately.

Do you keep the plates and moulds for repeat orders?

Yes. Tooling is a one-time cost per shape, and repeat orders run on the same records — approved sample, artwork placement, material and color references — so a second batch matches the first.

Can you print an artist's original design?

Yes. Multi-color, detailed or gradient artwork belongs in digital or UV printing; send the vector file at the intended size and we will recommend the method and show it on the sample before production.
